Japanese Sales Chart: New 3DS continues to top hardware charts (Week Ending February 8, 2015)
The latest sales data from Japan paints a slightly bleaker picture for Nintendo this week, as the 3DS is knocked from its perch at number one on the software charts, with a couple of new entries on other systems beating it to the number one spot.
There were still nine 3DS entries in the top twenty, including long-stayers Yokai Watch 2: Shinuchi, Pokemon Omega Ruby / Alpha Sapphire, Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate and Super Smash Bros. The Wii U had three entries again this week, at numbers fourteen through sixteen, thanks to Kirby and Mario.
In hardware, the picture is a little brighter for Nintendo, as the 3DS system itself still managed to top the charts. Overall, sales were down slightly on last week across the board this week, though the 3DS – in its four iterations – made up almost half of that number, selling a total of 35,292 systems out of 77,804 total hardware sales.
