Maid of Sker to scare Switch players in October
Plenty of room at the Hotel Sker of horror.
I’ve been to Wales twice. It’s my second favorite place on Earth (behind only Cedar Point). But that’s maybe just because I didn’t have to stay at the Hotel Sker while I was visiting.
Wales Interactive has announced that their new survival-horror title, Maid of Sker, will launch for the Nintendo Switch in October of 2020. This is four months behind the Steam Xbox One and Playstation 4 release, but if the trailer is any indication, it looks like horror finds will find it to be worth the wait.
Steeped in rich Welsh folklore, Maid of Sker draws players back to 1898 to adventure through the notoriously macabre Hotel Sker. With multiple ways for your stay at Hotel Sker to come to an end, use your time wisely as you navigate the halls and grounds employing no-weapon survival tactics, and relying on your ability to keep quiet to stay breathing.
Typically, my hotel stays have only come to one end; me checking out and going home. But I’m not Elisabeth Williams, the woman upon whom Maid of Sker is based. Her tragic folk story tells of a Welsh woman in the 1800s who dies of heartbreak after her father locks her away in her room. Do you think parents knew about the likelihood of bloody hauntings when they made decisions like that back then?
And if the setting isn’t creepy enough for you, the game will feature Welsh singer Tia Kalmaru recreating Welsh hymns in Maid of Sker’s terrifying tone. Check out the trailer above and dig the chills.
We’ll be sure to keep our eyes on this one as we approach release in October. Until then, you can learn more about Maid of Sker at walesinteractive.com.
