Nintendo has announced details on the pre-launch tournament for Mario Tennis Aces. From June 1-3, you can hop online to play a free pre-launch tournament, ahead of the full game’s June 22 release.
During the tournament, you’ll be able to choose between four main characters – Mario, Peach, Yoshi, or Bowser. Play your way through a series of online multiplayer matches to earn enough points to unlock five more characters. Nintendo has left the identity of these characters as a surprise.
Players who just want to try the game without joining the tournament can do so, playing offline in single-player matches, against computer-controlled characters.
The software will be available for download in the eShop from May 24. Whether you play online or offline, by playing the demo you’ll unlock Mario’s classic outfit in the full game once it launches on June 22.
The free pre-launch tournament is open from 6 p.m. PT on June 1 to 11:59 p.m. PT on June 3.
