In a strange move I guarantee no one saw coming, Nintendo has hinted at the next iteration in the Metroid Series: Metroid Prime: Federation Force.  Samus is conspicuously absent while the Federation Force, clad in giant mech suits, take center stage.  You can team up with up to three friends to take down massive enemies.

Federation Force is not the only title bundled in.  Players will also be able to check out Metroid Prime: Blast Ball, a 3-on-3 soccer style game which implements the mechanics from the Prime Series.  I guess that’s one way the Federation blows off some steam.

Retro Studios was not mentioned in this trailer, so this may not be the title the developer has been hinting at.  Metroid Prime: Federation Force will be released in 2016
