Nintendo Creators Program for YouTube Overloaded with Requests
When Nintendo announced their new YouTube Affiliates program last week, there was a mixed reaction across the interwebs. Whether you like the program or not, it certainly has generated interest from many YouTubers.
Last week, Nintendo updated its Creators Program information page to reveal a 72-hour waiting list to handle the influx of requests to join.
Due to your enthusiasm for the program, we’re receiving a higher volume of applications to register channels & videos than expected. It is taking longer than we anticipated to confirm the applications. We appreciate your patience as we work through them as quickly as possible.
The Creators Program, which is in beta phase until it fully launches on May 27, shares up to 70% of ad profits from online games streamed by YouTube users. Those accepted can create videos that feature Nintendo games to share ad revenue, receiving 60% of the revenue generated by the videos. They can also register Nintendo-specific channels to earn as much as 70%. The one caveat is that any games outside of the list of supported games must be removed before registering.
