Nintendo Direct Jan 14th 2015: New amiibo line and Wave 4 Annouced
Today’s Nintendo Direct held a lot of important news for amiibo fans today. More importantly, Wave 4 of the Super Smash Bros. amiibos have been slated for a Spring 2015 release. The six characters included in wave 4 are as follows:
- Robin
- Lucina
- PAC-MAN
- Wario
- Ness
- Charizard
All characters will be compatible with Smash Bros, which is to be expected, but Nintendo threw us a curve ball by announcing a brand new line of amiibo dubbed the Super Mario series. Launching on March 20th, the Super Mario series amiibo will include:
- Mario
- Peach
- Luigi
- Yoshi
- Bowser
- Toad
While many of these characters already have amiibos, this new series will feature new designs for the characters, with Toad being exclusive to this new set of figures. They will have the same functionality as the other amiibo, so it seems whether you pick one up or not is up to personal preference.
Last but not least, Nintendo hinted that hard to find amiibo such as Marth, will be restocked in the U.S. come March 13th, so if you’re missing out on some of the rare amiibos, you’ll still have a chance to nab them all!
While it’s a lot of news to take in, what are your thoughts on the Super Mario Bros. Series of amiibo? Did they include any of your favorite characters in the Wave 4 set? Let us know in the comments!
