Nintendo download – March 19 eShop Releases (Europe)
The latest downloadable goodies hitting Europe this Thursday have been announced, and it appears to be another diverse list of releases across both platforms, with the usual discounts and virtual console treatments thrown in for good measure.
Check out the full list below and let us know which games will be on your playlist this week.
Wii U eShop
- Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Tipping Stars (Nintendo, €19.99 / £17.99 or free if you purchase the 3DS version and redeem the code provided) – the latest in the puzzle series returns to the 2D platforming perspective – not the 3D isometric approach of its immediate predecessor – and utilises the GamePad to solve ten worlds of eight puzzles each, with plenty of new items, pitfalls and strategies to keep you interested. The ‘Tipping Star’ moniker of the title refers to the rating you can cast or receive on user-generated levels, for which you can build from scratch or start with templates. The cross-buy promotion is a step in the right direction, despite the lack of shared save data, and we were very happy to recommend this games in our Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Tipping Stars review. Note: available from March 20.
Wii U Virtual Console
- Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow (Konami, €6.99 / £6.29) – the final installment in the Game Boy Advance trilogy, Aria of Sorrow was originally released in 2003. This time we follow the adventures of Soma Cruz in the future – 2035 to be precise, long after Dracula was sealed in 1999. The futuristic setting is a nice departure from the medieval setting of prior Castlevania games, and along with the new and rather useful Tactical Soul mechanic, this game combines the usual elements of platforming and RPG well to create another vampire-slaying adventure.
Wii U Retail Download
- Mario Party 10 (Nintendo, €39.99 / £34.99) – the latest party title featuring Mario and friends brings new features like amiibo-unlocked boards and GamePad asynchronous play to the mix. Bowser features more prominently as the villain, with a new Bowser Party mode and fresh mini-games to bring the party franchise into the current generation. Note: available from March 20.
