It’s Monday, and it’s time to reveal the latest round of games coming to the European eShop from this Thursday. In among the usual discounts and demos comes the slightly controversial new Metroid spin-off for 3DS, plus a new movie and other new games to tempt you.

  • Axiom Verge (Tom Happ, €16.19 until 8th September, then €17.99) – in this Metroidvania title, a scientist finds himself in an ancient, high-tech world. The adventure game focuses on exploration as you attempt to work out where you are and why.
  • Tetraminos (Sanuk Games, €4.99) – this game is based on the classic Tetris formula and offers a puzzle mode with 50 levels, an endless option and local vs. play.

  • Metroid Prime: Federation Force (Nintendo, €39.99) – this spin-off shooter might not be the Metroid game fans were hoping for, but it’s a fun diversion that adds a new layer to the series.   • Chain Blaster (Joindots, €4.99) – this scrolling shoot ’em up focuses on precision shots, used to take out multiple chained enemies at once.
