P-Wing Awards: Best Nintendo Games of the Decade
2010 is in full swing and that means it’s time to honor the best games of the last decade! We’ve assembled what we consider the best Nintendo games of the last decade (2000-2009). Check out the first annual P-Wing awards ‘Decade’s Best’ after the jump!
Best Nintendo Games of The Decade
Decade’s Best (Justin)
1. Metroid Prime (GC) – Prime is one of the greatest games of the last decade and one of the greatest games ever. It’s organic environments, crisp visuals, and incredible boss battles make it one of the best games of our time.
2. The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker (GC) – Defying the norm, Nintendo set out to revamp the visuals for The Wind Waker and it was the best decision they could’ve made. The Wind Waker is full of charm and is still one of the most beautiful games on any platform.
3. Super Mario Galaxy (Wii) – Galaxy represented the first true leap in Wii games over Gamecube games. With sparkling graphics, imaginative worlds, and 3D platforming at its best; Super Mario Galaxy shines as one of the best in the series.
4. The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (GC, Wii) – From the first trailer at E3 2004, to its release in 2006, Twilight Princess showed why Zelda games have set the standard for adventure games for over 20 years.
5. Super Smash Bros. Melee (GC) – The best selling game on the Gamecube also offers the most purely-fun game experience. From the massive amount of new characters to the limitless replayability, Smash Bros. Melee still offers challenge and fun almost 10 years after its release.
Decade’s Best (James)
1. The Legend Of Zelda: The Wind Waker (GC) – Wind Waker may look simple and may actually be one of the easiest Zelda games, but don’t let that fool you. Wind Waker is full with a great story, characters, game-play and visuals.
2. Metroid Prime (GC) – Metroid Prime was the most ground breaking game of all of them, but do not let that over shadow what the other two games bring to the table.
3. Brain Age (DS) – Brain Age is the first game in years that I got my mother to play. Not only are you learning but it’s fun at the same time.
4. Resident Evil 4 (GC) – Resident Evil 4 took scary zombiest games to a whole new level. Probably one of the only games where I really felt scared for my characters life. Stunning visual affects and game-play makes this one of the best games of the decade.
5. Conker’s Bad Fur Day (N64) – The last horrah for the N64 was a good one.
