Eugene, OR, February 13, 2008 – GarageGames, the leading technology provider for independent game developers, together with Pronto Games, co-developer on Torque for Wii, has announced a host of updates including the the 2D drag and drop functionality of Torque Game Builder to their Nintendo Wii game development solution.
First unveiled at the Nintendo Developer Conference in June, Torque for Wii features extensible Wii Remote support, Wii optimized skinned mesh rendering, compressed texture, interior support, and hardware blending for terrain textures. Developers will also find a powerful WYSIWYG tool chain for designers, scripting language support, a comprehensive Lot Check compliance component, and Wii graphics and audio abstraction layers.

Nintendo Calls Out China, Korea, Brazil, Hong Kong, Paraguay, Mexico
REDMOND, Wash., Feb. 14, 2008 – Nintendo of America Inc. has asked the U.S. Trade Representative to encourage specific governments around the world to take a more aggressive stance to combat piracy of Nintendo video games and systems. Nintendo filed its comments under a “Special 301” process, in which the U.S. Trade Representative solicits input from the public to underscore specific areas of concern.
While China remains the primary source of manufacturing pirated Nintendo DS™ and Wii™ games, Korea has emerged as the leader in distributing illegal game files via the Internet. Despite aggressive anti-piracy actions taken by Nintendo, Brazil and Mexico remain saturated with counterfeit Nintendo software. Meanwhile, Paraguay and Hong Kong continue to serve as major transshipment points for global distribution of illegal goods.

Want to participate in a Brawl tourney before the game comes out? Now here’s your chance. The first tourney is scheduled for Feb. 16 at 3 pm at the Orpheum Theater: 842 S. Broadway Los Angeles, CA, 90014. The price is totally free, and only the first 256 people get in. There are more tournaments planned for San Francisco, Boston, and New York City, but no dates have been made yet. Stay tuned with us for further details.
