Van Helsing Sniper Zx100 is a first-person shooter that uses the gyroscope in the 3DS to aim your weapon. The game is set in London and your mission is to snipe vampires and save humans on top of rooftops. I was hoping it would give an experience similar to classic light-gun games like House of the Dead, but unfortunately it mostly just gave me a headache and very little, if any, enjoyment.
The controls are pretty simple, you use the motion sensor to aim and the A/B buttons to fire. The Circle Pad controls your weapon’s scope and R enters a slow motion “vampire vision” mode. Two other buttons you will be pressing a lot are the X and Y. As you move the 3DS around to aim, the camera alignment frequently needs to be readjusted. By pressing X or Y, the camera moves back to the default center position.
I honestly don’t have much to say about this game, except that it fails to captivate me. The 3D effect is decent, but the overall graphics are just cheaply done. The gameplay is repetitive and boring, there is nothing that makes me want to keep going.
Save yourself the ludicrous $6.66 price of Van Helsing Sniper Zx100 and play Face Raiders (which is included for free on the 3DS) instead.
