Some big news was dropped today by the Pokemon Company, as we get our first look at the second stage evolutions for the Alolan starter Pokemon.
First up, we have Dartrix, the evolved form of Rowlett. It remains a grass/flying type, and it uses concealed, sharpened quills that it sends flying to attack foes with. It also very obsessed with looking its best all the time, to the point where it will lose focus in battle if its feathers are unclean.
Litten remains a pure fire type when it evolves into Torracat. The bell like object around its neck is actually an organ, and Torracat uses it to produce fire. Its emotions are said to raise the organ’s temperature, and its mane can is used as a sensory organ to find hidden enemies in the dark.
Last but not least, Popplio evolves into Brionne, a water type Pokemon. Officially labeled as the pop star Pokemon, Brionne spends a great deal of its time learning new dances from other Pokemon and humans alike. Brionne have even been known to gather on moonlit nights to dance together in unison.
That wasn’t the only bit of news revealed in the video however, as a new feature, known as the Festival Plaza, was announced. The Festival Plaza is a place where you can connect with other players online to battle, trade, and shop. You can even take on missions together or fulfill player requests to earn festival coins, which are the currency of the plaza.
Poke’ Pelago, while also being a fantastic pun, is another new feature where your boxed Pokemon can visit and explore various islands. Pokemon can not only find you items, but some wild Pokemon can even join your ranks. It seems the more Pokemon you send, the further you can develop your island.
Mega evolution also sees a return in this generation, but perhaps the biggest surprise during the trailer was the announcement of a special demo version of Pokemon Sun and Moon that will be made available on October 18th. This demo will let you use a special Greninja that has the battle bond ability. This allows Greninja to change into the Ash Greninja form, and upon completion of the demo, you’ll be able to transfer it to your main games when they release.
With Sun and Moon releasing on November 18th, and the special demo coming in just two weeks, have you decided which starter you will pick for your journey? Let us know what you think in the comments, and stay tuned for more Pokemon news on October 14th.
