Many people were upset with Nintendo’s attempt to make a Wii gun, so it was left up to 3rd parties to try to appease Nintendo fans. Many Wii guns have come and gone, none of them have interested me too much, except for the Penguin United CrossFire Remote Pistol. I tried out the CrossFire with RE4 and The Conduit. Check out my impressions after the jump.

Good:

-The Buttons are very slick and easy. The A button is easily accessible by your thumb, it doesn’t matter if you are left or right handed, there is a button on each side.  The location of the D-pad is really nice for The Conduit; which some useful actions can be set to the D-pad, 180 spins for example,

-I will be honest; the gun looks real, its bad ass feeling to be holding a gun like the CrossFire……Like a gangster!

-Motion in the Controller. This was something I was worrying about before I used the CrossFire. If the controller didn’t have motion, then most shooters would not be as effective. My worries where diminished when I smacked my first alien on the side of the head.

-The joystiq plugs nicely into the bottom of the handle.

Bad:

-The Speaker never really worked for me, there was always a crackle in the speaker and then a low pitch hum came out of it. I have no clue if it’s just the one sent to me or if all of them are like that.

-It seems a lot harder to keep the pointer study on the screen. The controls for The Conduit had to be turned way down before I was able to study my hand enough to be affective.

-The CrossFire is a little heavy, and can get pretty tiring after holding it for an hour or so playing video games, with out taking a break. Which could be a good thing causing people to take a break.

The Crossfire remote pistol is a fun ting to play with, I’m just not sure if its worth $40, a cost of a wii-mote, when it can only be used well in shooters. On the other hand if you are looking for a cool Wii-gun then the CrossFire should be your choice.

I give the CrossFire a 6/10
