It’s that time of year again, Football time!!! With the start of the NFL regular season underway, it is a good time to take a look at Madden 2010!

This year, for Madden, EA decided to build the game from the ground up, with all new features and look. Some of the changes are pretty nice and a welcome change, other of them (graphics) are not as welcome. I’m going to start getting into technical Madden and football terms. So for those of you who are not big fans but are a little curious about this game, I will give you my score of this game now. For those who are into Madden and football, please continue reading on.

I give Madden 2010 a 7 out of 10.

Game Controls

This is where we see a very good difference with this Madden then the others. There are multiple control schemes for Madden 2010. Of course you have All Play controls, but there are also two different types of passing controls. The first one is pretty much the same from last year, except for some minor changes. Instead of flicking both he nunchuk and the wii-mote up to intercept the ball, its just the Wii-mote now; to knock down a pass by flicking down on the Wii-mote; also to juke left or right, hold the Z button and move the joystick to the direction of the juke.

The other passing controls are something I talked about on my E3 hands on impressions, the Point and Throw. All the controls are the same as the other scheme, except for the passing. You can probably tell by the name that when you pass you basically point and throw the ball. Point the Wii-mote to the receiver you want to throw to and press A. This control scheme reminds me a lot of a quarterback going through is progressions across the field looking for an open receiver.

Graphics

Ummmm….Maybe they will grow on me…..No I don’t think so. For those of you who are fans of the Blitz series, these over the top sized people will remind you of Blitz. I do have to say the game, with its cartoonish type graphics, does make it look a little more polished, and pretty, but I still can’t get over those super big arms or waists of running backs, or the super skinny body of receivers.

Game Play types

I’m not going to get too much into the different game types. I am sure if you made it this far into the review you don’t care to much about the different game types except franchise (which you have to unlock or get the code) and maybe the training camp challenge competitions.

Summary

This would be a great Madden title for the Wii if it wasn’t for the graphics, I just can’t get past them. I also believe that there is to many different modes to play. I know EA is trying to go for more of a verity of people with Madden, but true Madden just want to play some real football.
