Here comes the REYNATIS, falling on the Switch like an RPG
We’re two week’s away from the release of REYNATIS, and NIS America has just released the demo to help JRPG action fans understand why they’ll want to get their pre-order in. That’s assuming you haven’t already after reading our bullet-point preview.
Don’t want to click through to that? Fine. Here’s the game’s premise:
REYNATIS is an atmospheric urban fantasy set in a realistic recreation of Shibuya, Tokyo, where the ultimate clash between magic and order is about to unfold. Seeking freedom through strength, the wizard Marin heads to Shibuya, where he meets Sari, an officer of the M.E.A., an organization dedicated to keeping wizards under control.
The demo will allow gamers to experience REYNATIS’s dual story perspective by featuring the opening chapters of each of those characters.
The gameplay twist comes when playing as Marin and his companions, as they have two modes: Suppresion and Liberation. Suppression mode is used solely to build up your magic gauge through well-timed dodges. No offense. That happens in Liberation mode, during which time can slow down, allowing you to be fully effective in combat. However, you can be detected by bystanders who will alert the authorities. Striking a balance between the two is key to victory, and you’ve now got a couple weeks to get some practice in.
REYNATIS will be available for Nintendo Switch on September 27th. Preorders aren’t yet open in the eShop, but the demo is there. More information—including details on the still available, limited edition, physical release—can be found at nisamerica.com.
