The information comes form someone at Neogaf. The can not confirm this rumor for sure, this is why I am marking it as a rumor.

-Gamepad’s battery life is 3-5 hours
-2 hours and 30 minutes to charge
-depends on the brightness of the screen
-you can use gamepad while charging

I have to say, that is a heck-of a long time to charge.
