6-Year-Old Girl Designs GameStop’s 2008 Holiday Gift Card

Company Will Donate $1 to Make-A-Wish Foundation for Every Gift Card Purchased

GRAPEVINE, Texas–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Dallas-area resident Mary McKenzie is helping GameStop raise funds this holiday season for the Make-A-Wish Foundation®. She had the honor of creating artwork for GameStop Corp.’s (NYSE: GME) 2008 holiday gift card. The 6-year-old first grader is a frequent customer of GameStop, the world’s largest video game and entertainment software retailer. Her artwork depicts a colorful holiday scene complete with an angel, snowman, tree and reindeer.

McKenzie often submits her drawings to GameStop staff in the metroplex, so when Chris Olivera, vice president of corporate communications and public affairs at the retailer, heard about her drawings, he knew she would be the perfect person to illustrate this year’s holiday card.

“We were already in the planning stages for a holiday card that would benefit our corporate partner, the Make-A-Wish Foundation,” Olivera said. “I heard about Mary’s love of GameStop and her hope to help grant a wish someday for a child, so we asked her to help us design the card.”

Wii-consoles.co.uk gives shoppers the edge in finding Nintendo Wii Fit in stock

By  •  November 27, 2008

November 27, 2008 – Nintendo Wii Fit is still flying off the shelves, with even the major retailers running out of stock in a matter of minutes. But savvy shoppers searching for this must have game can avoid the scramble thanks to real time stock alert website, Wii-consoles.co.uk, which checks supplier websites in real-time to find out when and where the latest stock can be had.

Wii Fit has been in very short supply since its release in April 2008. This stock shortage mirrors the same stock supply issue that Nintendo had with their Wii games console earlier this year.

Darren Mckillop, Wii-consoles.co.uk webmaster, says: “The Wii Fit stock issues we’re seeing now are even worse than the Wii console stock issues we saw last Xmas. Wii Fit has been hard to buy for almost 8 months now and I’m not aware of any gaming product that has ever been in short supply for this length of time. With Xmas approaching again I can see this game being out of stock for another 2 months at least”

Last King of Africa : New screenshots.

By  •  November 27, 2008

Only a few days before its release, Focus Home Interactive and White Birds are pleased to offer you 9 unreleased screenshots from Last King of Africa. As shown on these screenshots, Last King of Africa on Nintendo DS invites you on a fantastic journey deep into an imaginary Africa where you will play the role of young Ann Smith, daughter of the last king of Maurania. Ann is on her way to assist her dying father on his deathbed when her plane crashes near a city held by a rebel faction, on the north side of the country. Ann lives through this terrible accident and wakes up with amnesia in a prince’s palace. That is how her extraordinary journey begins.

In order to develop the game on the Nintendo DS, this amazing adventure created by Benoit Sokal had to be totally rethought with regard to Paradise on the PC. The numerous puzzles and mind-teasers throughout the game have been completely reworked and now offer an original and intuitive gameplay that takes advantage of the Nintendo DS functions. The use of the stylus, microphone and your own logic will be of capital importance in solving the puzzles and mind-teasers.

The story itself has undergone some refreshing changes and is now much more coherent and surprising. These modifications are notable in the radical change in the relationships between the principal characters and in the combination and simplification of the dialogues that retain only the essential information needed to understand the story line without artificially prolonging the game. Still with the same intention of facilitating comprehension, Nintendo DS’s dialogue interface offers a more expressive identification of the characters. The characters are now displayed with a close up shot on the DS’ upper screen. Also, 3D action phases have been eliminated to make Last King of Africa a true, pure and traditional point & click adventure game.
