Yacht Club Games is a new indie developer made up of ex-WayForward team members and they are looking to bring their first game, Shovel Knight, to the Wii U and 3DS eShop.  Like many developers before them, Yacht Club Games is looking to fund the development of Shovel Knight through Kickstarter.  At the time of this writing they are currently sitting at 72% funded with only 19 days left in their funding campaign.  While this leaves Yacht Club Games in a good position to find themselves reaching their goal, they still need your help to reach their $75,000 goal.

Shovel knight is a 2D action, adventure platformer that may remind many gamers of Mega Man, Castlevania, or Dark Souls.  The bosses in Shovel Knight look absolutely insane!  Each level and boss has a unique theme and the team has put every effort into creating an epic 8-bit adventure experience.  The game brings graphics that look like they belong in the NES-era but include some great additions like living backgrounds and also scrolling backgrounds to really give the game depth.  Below is a short description of Shovel Knight’s plot as well as some screens.  Please help Yacht Club Games and visit their Kickstarter so that we may see Shovel Knight on the Wii U and 3DS eShop!

Play as the eponymous Shovel Knight, a small knight with a huge quest. Shovel Knight has come to this valley with two goals: to defeat the evil Enchantress and save his lost beloved. He wields a ShovelBlade: a multipurpose weapon whose techniques have now been lost to the ages. Always honest and helpful, Shovel Knight is a shining example of the code of Shovelry:Slash Mercilessly and Dig Tirelessly!

But, between Shovel Knight and his beloved stands a cadre of villainous knights. These terrible foes, known as The Order of No Quarter, have been dispatched to prevent Shovel Knight from reaching the Enchantress, and will pursue their mission at any cost.
