Kaname Date's not the only one who won't be sleeping.
One of the slicker looking titles in yesterday’s Nintendo Direct was definitely No Sleep For Kaname Date – From AI: THE SOMNIUM FILES. This latest entry in the AI: THE SOMNIUM FILES is coming to Nintendo Switch on July 25th. And if you’re not familiar with the series, Spike Chunsoft is providing some financial incentives to help you catch up.
As part of their Publisher Sale, AI: THE SOMNIUM FILES and AI: THE SOMNIUM FILES – nirvanA Initiative, are up to 90% off. That puts the former at only $3.99 in the U.S. Nintendo eShop while the latter will run you $8.99. The sale on these and other Spike Chunsoft titles lasts up to April 11th.
But let’s stay focused on No Sleep For Kaname Date for now.
The player takes on the role of Kaname Date, the protagonist, and once again teams up with the AI-Ball, Aiba, to tackle a mysterious case and rescue Iris, an internet idol who has been forced to take part in a dangerous escape game. No Sleep For Kaname Date – From AI: THE SOMNIUM FILES introduces a new gameplay element: “Escape”. As with previous games, in “Investigation”, players will examine crime scenes and listen to testimonies. In “Somnium”, players enter the dream worlds of suspects and key witnesses. In the new “Escape” sections, players will solve puzzles to break out locked rooms. By moving between these three sections, players can obtain the necessary clues to solve the case.
Game director Kazuya Yamada (Spike Chunsoft) wrote the scenario while Kotaro Uchikoshi, the previous scenario writer, continues to oversee as the series director. In addition, Yusuke Kozaki returned as character designer with Keisuke Ito composing the music.
Speaking of the game and his role, Uchikoshi-san stated, “From the beginning, I trusted the development staff, but I was filled with awe at the quality, which far exceeded my expectations. The core element of this game, the ‘escape game,’ is not just a collection of puzzles; it has been intricately woven with a deep thematic significance, and its difficulty is perfectly balanced…! I believe both core and casual players will definitely enjoy it. This game is a heartfelt anthem of love created by the staff who love the ‘AI’ series, for all the fans who also love the ‘AI’ series.”
Not sure if you’re in that group? You’ve got four months and a $13 investment to find out.
