I think I would've liked "Nintendo Switched"
As if to spite all the rumor-mongers and leakers, Nintendo today officially unveiled the Nintendo Switch 2 with a 2025 release in a decidedly “meh” manner. Check out the first-look trailer and let us know if you agree.
Physically, there’s not a whole lot in there that hasn’t been spoiled recently on social media. The video highlights the size difference and the enhanced support stand, and spends a lot of time on Joy-Con connectivity. It’s like Nintendo said, “You’re leaking the boring stuff, antsy pants. We’re saving what really matters until April.”
Specifically, April 2nd, when the company will run a Nintendo Switch 2 Nintendo Direct. Immediately thereafter, they’ll host a hands-on Nintendo Switch 2 Experience at the following locations and dates:

What games will be playable at these events? Well, a new Mario Kart, based on the first-look trailer. We’ll undoubtedly get more gaming news in the April 2nd Nintendo Direct. In the meantime, be sure you’ve got your Nintendo account in working order if you plan to attend.
A Nintendo Account is necessary to participate in a Nintendo Switch 2 Experience event. Ticket registrations for consumers will begin in the near future. Please visit https://www.nintendo.com/us/nintendo-switch-2-experience/ for more information.
The other big news is the confirmation that, “Nintendo Switch 2 plays Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive games, as well as both physical and digital Nintendo Switch games.” However, certain Nintendo Switch games may not be supported on or fully compatible with Nintendo Switch 2.” What and why will be made clear down the road.
That’s a road we’re ready and eager to travel. Be sure to join us for the next Pure Nintendo Podcast, as there’ll undoubtedly be plenty of discussion on what we expect in the coming months. Exciting!
