That is right, this is as confusing as the title of this post. Nintendo created a Animal crossing site social network in the UK, but then blocked people from being social and shareing Ideas. This is what a Nintendo rep had to say about it.

We’d rather people received information through word-of-mouth than us controlling it. We encourage them to talk, but we just want them to take the conversation elsewhere.
