Nintendo has been trying to make the word Wii-remote into one of those famous words like three-pete or “that’s hot.” Unlike Phil Jackson and his trademark term three-pete and Paris Hilton’s “that’s hot.” Nintendo does not own the right to the word Wii-remote. In fact Nintendo can not even own the right to Wii-mote, the word most commonly used to describe the Wii’s controller, because of a small Florida company called Fobis. Fobis manufactures small TV remotes for children that are called weemotes, which they own the right to that term.
