Wargroove 2 in development for Nintendo Switch
How gamers got their Wargroove back.
Good news for turn-based strategy gaming fans. Chucklefish and Robotality have announce Wargroove 2—the sequel to the multi award-winning Wargroove—is currently in development Nintendo Switch and Windows PC. This new entry will feature the same pixel art and challenging turn-based combat while offering a brand new campaign, an advanced tiered Groove system, a roguelike game mode, and a lovable cast of new Commanders to try out on the battlefield.
Trouble stirs on the shores of Aurania. An ambitious new faction has unearthed forbidden relics capable of catastrophic consequences. But how far will they go to achieve glory? Take to the field, sea, and sky with a cast of new Commanders, using your wits to wage turn-based war!
We don’t have a whole lot of details at the moment, but Chucklefish and Robotality would at least like us to know that players can expect:
- An all-new Wargroove adventure for new recruits and veteran wardogs alike!
- Mysterious new factions joining the fight
- Commanders that are more powerful than ever, with an all-new tiered Groove system
- Three new Campaign arcs, interwoven in a fierce conclusion
- Co-op and multiplayer modes, locally or online for up to 4 players
- A new roguelike mode—Conquest—to put players’ strategic abilities to the test
- Five new unit types to master
- Special items that can be used to level up ordinary units
- New and improved map, campaign, and cutscene editors
- A captivating soundtrack written by composer Dale North (Nintendo eShop, Disney Wish park and cruise experience, River City Girls 1 & 2, RWBY Arrowfell)
No release timeframe has been announced, but that gives you time to play through the original Wargroove (and its free DLC campaign) if you haven’t already. Fans can also follow Wargroove 2 development on Discord and Twitter, and we’ll be sure to let you know as more information is released.
