What I expect from Nintendo at E3
With E3 2011 and Nintendo’s press conference about a week away, it is finally time for me to talk about what I am expecting from the show.
- Wii successor will be announced with a launch time window. I think it will be a little earlier then we expect but not this year. (Here is hoping I am wrong)
- There is still one big secret about the successor we have not even imagined yet. I may be a little worried about it. Could Nintendo be trying to tackle too much with one system?
- Nintendo will come out with guns blazing when they announce the Wii Successor. I expect Nintendo to show 3rd pary support a lot like they did for the 3DS. I imagine one major 3rd party showing off a game on stage. If I had to guess it would be Rockstar and GTA V.
- To go along with above, I imagine Nintendo themselves will have something big to announce for the Wii Successor. Nintendo knows they have to go all out with this launch and blow people away. With Nintendo finally creating a system with graphical power. A lot of people are going to be critical if Nintendo looks to be dropping the ball on their new system. With that said, I imagine Nintendo has a few big franchises to show off for their new console. Who knows what they will be; Star Fox, Mario, and yes even a Smash Brothers gams.
- I have a very sick feeling that Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword has been pushed back to a Wii Successor launch game. I do think there is a possibility that we will see a much nicer new trailer of Skyward Sword, which will blow us away. If Nintendo does not announce a release date for Skyward Sword at the conference, I will take that as a sign it will be pushed back to the new system.
- I believe most of the press conference to consist of 3DS and Wii talk. The Wii Successor will only take up the end of the presentation, like the 3DS did last year.
- There may be one or two more big Wii titles to announce. Not sure what they could be.
- I am expecting a big 3DS push with a lot of new games shown off. I imagine Nintendo will show off another classic Nintendo game they are revamping for the 3DS.
- A possible surprise for the eShop channel, maybe a new feature we did not know about.
Anything I said in this post cannot be taken for a sure thing. I myself am not sure of any of this. I just tried to take my knowledge of covering Nintendo news for over 4 years and peak into Nintendo’s crystal ball. I do not mind if anything I said comes true…if all of it comes true I will look like a genius though.
