Michael Pachter believes that a ‘higher-spec, HD-enabled “Wii 2” could be on the shelves in a couple years.’ While speaking to Gamesindustry.biz, Pachter believes that publishers don’t know how to deal with the new demographic that the Wii has created amongst casual gamers.

A SEGA exec recently went on record saying that the Wii has no staying power and will eventually be outsold by the PS3. Pachter doesn’t believe this to be the case, and thinks that Nintendo might counter that claim with an early release of Wii 2.

All of this is pure conjecture from industry analysts, but it’s definitely something that could happen.
