Wii U Google Maps App Delayed
Engadget reports that in a statement from Nintendo that the Google Maps App, called Wii Street U, has been delayed. In the statement, which can be seen below, Nintendo says the cause for the delay is to “spend some more time on final development work.” Hopefully the delay is to make sure that a completed product is presented at the time of release. Lately Nintendo has released products that are not quite ready for release. Nintendo TVii is a prime example of this and Wii U owners are still waiting for Netflix and DVR support. Nintendo has also stated that these TVii features will become available “in early 2013 in the United States” but as we have experienced in the recent past these features could face further delays.
“Mr. Iwata recently confirmed that NCL [Nintendo Company Limited] will delay the release date of Wii Street U in Japan from late January to mid-February to spend some more time on final development work. As NOA announced in a Nintendo Direct on 12/5/2012, Wii Street U will be available for download from the Nintendo eShop in the United States in the first quarter of 2013.”
