Miyamoto Announcing Something At E3

Posted by james On May 31, 2009

“…The only other thing I will say though, is Miyamoto is going to be announcing something. We’re meeting with them during the show for an interview so I’m going to pretty much speculate that something’s going on with him. Either Mario or Zelda. Or he could be talking about the next Pikmin game which is also rumored…I still think there’s going to be a new Zelda.”

-Director of Gaming Editorial on G4TV.com, Billy Berghammer

It was said that Miyamoto would not be presenting at Nintendo press conference, but would be holding a round table later on Tuesday. Has the plans changed for Nintendo press conference or will this game be announced during his round table.

Pre-E3 2009: LEGO Indiana Jones 2 Detailed

Posted by james On May 30, 2009

GN: What about the sort of content the game is going to cover?

Kellam Eanes: The game play will be structured around six large level “Hubs,” which will be levels unto themselves. Think Barnett College (LEGO Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures) and the Cantina (LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga) Hubs blown out to a larger, more interactive scale. For instance, for the Raiders of the Lost Ark Hub, you’ll be able to fly a plane, swim around islands, or ride a boat within the Hub itself. There are five levels within each of the six Hubs.

IGN: Can you go over some of the playable characters that’ll be returning, as well as any newcomers? Can you still customize characters?

Kellam Eanes: In LEGO Indiana Jones 2: The Adventure Continues, LEGO Indy is joined once again by the characters from the original films, such as Mola Ram, Short-Round, Marion, Henry Jones, Sr. and Sala. Brand new characters from the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull will also join the cast. Mutt Williams and his motorcycle, Oxley, Dovchenko, Irina Spalko, and many more will join Indy on his adventures.

Character customization has always been at the heart of what we and Traveller’s Tales want from an interactive LEGO experience. Traveller’s really outdid themselves in expanding the character creator even further to allow players to create their own adventures! You can create your own characters and have them join Indy, Mola Ram, or any of your other favorite characters in a world that you can build brick by brick, from the ground up. You can’t get much more customizable than that!

IGN: We understand there will be some new functionality in the game for Indy’s whip. Can you go over what this means for players and what new types of moves and control it allows for?

Nikkei was the Japanese website who broke the news about the DSi before it was announced. So it can be said they have a pretty good track record. We have been hearing about the Wii Fit Plus rumor for a while, and a new Mario game could be for the Wii or DS and about anything. I am pretty sure both of these rumors will come true on Tuesday during Nintendo’s press conference.

Pure Nintendo At E3 2009

Posted by james On May 30, 2009

Wow!  The day is finally almost upon us, E3 2009!  This year’s E3 is already looking to be better than last year and Pure Nintendo will be there in full force!! Around 5 pm ET, I will be heading up to Nashville TN where everyone will meet to catch our flight tomorrow morning at 9 am CST. We should be arriving in LA about 11:15 PT. E3 doesn’t officially kick off until Tuesday, but EA and Ubisoft are both holding a press event on Monday, and we will be there to bring you whatever good things come out of it!  I’m planning on posting our day’s schedule each morning. I hope everyone is having a very restful pre-E3 weekend! If you cannot check out the Nintendo press event at 9 am PT on TV, you will be able to follow our live blog here. Even if you are watching you can still follow and get some insights about what we are seeing and feeling.

Also a heads up, we are planning to do a podcast every night while we are at E3. We decided this would be better for everyone, save us some time writing pages of reviews and hands on impressions, also I am sure you guys would rather hear us tell you about a game than read a 1000 word essay about it. But we will have some written impressions of games as well.
