The latest sales data from Japan is in, and this week saw the release of Pokemon Ultra Sun and Pokemon Ultra Moon for the Nintendo 3DS. Unsurprisingly, the pair stormed their way to the top of the charts, selling 667,439 copies between them. Impressively, the double pack, which contains both games in the one pack, sold 247,782 copies to come in second place.

There was more good news for Nintendo this week, with Super Mario Odyssey coming in at third place with another 62,024 sales. Other Switch notables included Splatoon 2 in sixth place and the perennial Mario Kart 8 Deluxe at number nine.

This week also saw the debut of the latest Dragon Quest title, with Dragon Quest X coming to both the Wii U and Switch. Interestingly, the Wii U version sold more copies, with 24,836 compared to 18,444, coming in at a respectable seventh position on the software charts.

In hardware, the Switch is on top once again, selling another 86,999 units. The New 2DS LL saw a surge to bring it to second place with over 29,000 units.
