Another week brings with it the promise of what’s to come, with the latest round of releases for the eShop due to hit Europe this Thursday. This week sees a fairly hefty list, with one of the bigger releases for the Wii U this year in Star Fox. There are plenty of other releases and some neat discounts to further tempt your download abilities.

Wii U eShop

  • Star Fox Guard (Nintendo, €14.99 / £12.99 or €9.99/ £9.99 for those with Star Fox Zero on the same Wii U) – an accompaniment to Star Fox Zero that demonstrates a unique use for the GamePad, this is a tower defense style of game with a twist, using 12 camera feeds to spot incoming robot intruders. A simple concept that sounds like a lot of fun, this one is available from 22nd April.
  • Queens Garden (Joindots, €6.99/ £5.49) – a colorful match-3 title.
  • Paranautical Activity (Digerati, €9.99) – this is the German release of the game previously released for Europe. It’s a first-person shooter of procedurally-generated levels that features permadeath and hordes of enemies and bosses to fight, with upgrades to make things a bit easier..

Wii U Virtual Console

  • Mario Party DS (Nintendo, €9.99/ £8.99) – hailing from 2007 comes a portable entry to the Mario Party series, offering minigames on the go. Sadly the ‘Download Play’ multiplayer option will be missing from the VC version.
  • Mario Party 2 (Nintendo, €9.99/ £8.99) – this second entry in the long-running series came about in 2000 for the Nintendo 64. With improvements on the original and some unique boards, this one might be worth checking out for fans.

Wii U Retail Download

  • Star Fox Zero (Nintendo, €49.99 / £39.99 or €44.99 / £36.99 for those with Star Fox Guard on the same Wii U) – the first home console entry in the series in over 10 years, this fresh start uses a GamePad-centric control scheme. There are flight levels naturally, but also other vehicles and control schemes are thrown into the mix, along with plenty of content for players to master. This one is available from 22nd April.

3DS eShop

  • Langrisser Re:Incarnation Tensei (Aksys Games, €34.99 / £28.00) – the original game started on the Sega Mega Drive, with several Sega Saturn sequels, but only the original was released in the West. Now, after a 17-year hiatus the tactical RPG series makes a return, with branching story paths, plenty of strategic battles and over 100 hours of gameplay promised. This will be available from 19th April.
  • Dan McFox: Head Hunter (Lightwood Games, €2.49 / £1.99) – a port of a mobile title that incorporates elements of ‘Guess Who’ (the board game) to challenge players to frantically pick out faces that fit the right criteria. It even includes online leaderboards.
