As another week begins it’s time to look forward to the latest eShop releases heading to Europe this Thursday. There’s plenty on offer, with everything from Hyrule Warriors: Legends to some classic SNES platforming for the Virtual Console, with a whole host of discounts to boot.

Wii U eShop

  • Infinity Runner (Wales Interactive, €6.49/ £5.89) – this first-person runner is set on a large spaceship, The Infinity. You play the role of a prisoner trying to escape the nightmarish inhabitants of the ship. To make things even more interesting, you’ll also be able to turn into a werewolf as you run through 14 levels of sci-fi action.
  • Shantae: Risky’s Revenge Director’s Cut (WayForward, €9.99/ £6.99) – this is a re-release of the popular DSiWare title. It’s been recreated in glorious HD plus new additions such as a warp system.

Wii U Virtual Console

  • Star Fox 64 (Nintendo, €4.99 / £4.49 until 21st April, then €9.99/ £8.99) – this Nintendo 64 classic was also known as Lylat Wars in Europe when it was first released in 1997. This highly regarded is the most popular title in the series according to some fans, praised at the time for its smooth animation and detailed graphics. Check this one out if you need some space-adventuring to tide you over until Star Fox Zero hits the Wii U next month.

New Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console

  • Donkey Kong Country (Nintendo, €7.99/ £7.19, or €3.99/ £3.59 for users who’ve downloaded Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy’s Kong Quest on New 3DS using the same NNID) – this classic platformer brought Donkey Kong back into the mainstream, with many excellent sequels following in its wake. This one came to the SNES in 1994 from Rare studios and introduced brilliant and challenging gameplay, new characters and fantastic graphics that still hold up today.
  • Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy’s Kong Quest (Nintendo, €7.99/ £7.19, or €3.99/ £3.59 for users who’ve downloaded Donkey Kong Country on New 3DS using the same NNID) – this sequel hit the SNES in 1995 and sees you take control of DK’s sidekick, Diddy Kong, on a rescue mission to find his barrel-chested friend. It brought more of the great visuals and gameplay we learned to expect from the original.

3DS Retail Download

  • Hyrule Warriors Legends (Nintendo, €39.99/ £34.99) – this meshing of genres brings the Dynasty Warriors series into the world of the Legend of Zelda in a hack ‘n’ slash action game. This portable version brings new characters and content to the series, plus plenty of DLC. Watch out for our review soon!

3DS / Wii U Retail DLC

  • Hyrule Warriors: Legends: Legends of Hyrule Pack: 3DS only (Nintendo, €14.99/ £13.49) – Get four AOC packs as they are released, and a costume for Ganondorf to enjoy now! (Nintendo 3DS only.)
