IGN Wii-k in Review Summary
- Rockstar Table Tennis discussion. Same game as 360 except for graphics downgrade and no online. No controller lag. A lot of details on mapped controls.
- Dragon Blade discussion. Resembles one of the “Simple Series” games from Japan. Controls a little rough, boss fights ane elemental attacks are impressive.
- List of Wii games from retailer. Nothing we haven’t discussed.
- Beth Llewelyn and Julia Roether leaving mentioned again
- Chris Slate from PSM is going to handle Nintendo Power
- Halo 3 sales talk, and how it relates to Xbox 360s sold
- More Halo 3 and Prime 3 comparisons
- Fifa 08 plays like Fifa series. Slightly impressed, but there are issues
- Dewy’s Adventure discussion. Straightforward platformer game from what has been played so far.
- Wednesday night next week, Nintendo is having a show for their upcoming Wii and DS holiday titles
- Dark themed game that has been hyped could be called a “high B, low A” quality title. Game found publisher, and now lost the publisher. Kind of Resident Evil style, a darker game
- Godzilla Unleashed may or may not have online.
- Brawl discussion. Ranked random matches are not confirmed as of right now.
- Ghost Squad calibration discussed. Point Wiimote at corners of screens and it locks into place. Hasn’t been tried with the shell yet.
- IGN says if anything, Link’s Crossbow Training was most likely the September surprise. They also say it may have been delayed, or been scrapped altogether.
- IGN doesn’t know if the Japanese VC titles released here will disappear from the service as they did in Europe.
- Endless Ocean delay believed to be due to marketing reasons
- The Nintendo event rumor comes up, but the person that sent in the question said it was on the 12th. Matt/Bozon joke about how they discussed the event earlier. I believe this is a misunderstanding, since we know the rumored Nintendo event was said to be on the 10th. The North American event and the rumored (but confirmed) Japanese event could be one in the same.
- Not sure if a uniform voice chat could be used across all games. Don’t believe it will ever happen.
- StarFox talk, want to see a return to the original StarFox ideas.
- Phantom Hourglass feels epic, believes the game is very easy. 12-15 hours on first run, 25 for really getting into it
- Where is Pikmin? No official announcement yet, even though Nintendo has hinted at it.
- Square Enix Wii support talk. FFCC: TCB is playable, but Square Enix hasn’t shown it yet.
- Umbrella Chronicles needed improvements – better framerate, more speed, transitional animations could be beefed up.
- Tomb Raider Anniversary is okay. PS2 issues are still present in the Wii version.
- MX vs. ATV Untamed is fun, physics are pretty cool. Different team for Wii, PS2/360. Online play hinted at.
Some interesting information—now let’s see if any of their speculation actually turns out to be true.
