PN Featured Artist: Louis Wulwick
This weeks PureNintendo.com featured artist is the very talented Louis Wulwick. He is a 2D/3D artist from New Jersey, and let me just say, if you like awesome t-shirts your in the right place! Louis takes his passion for video games, movies and art in general and creates stunning graphic designs for numerous tshirt sites around the web. I highly recommend checking them out seeing as I have purchased a few myself. Louis’ contact information can be found at the bottom of the interview if you have any questions for him. Enjoy!
KD: How long have you been an illustrator, is it something you’ve always wanted to do for a living?
LW: I have been interested in the arts since I was a little kid. I was interested enough in art to study it in college and grad school. Only recently have I really discovered my love for graphic design, particularly shirt design. I knew that I would like to do something artistic for a living but never imagined it would be this.
KD: What inspires you the most when creating artwork?
LW: Nerd culture in general inspires my work. There is so much out there from Sci-fi to Fantasy, from video games to movies, to television. It offers so much material to make designs that people will really enjoy.
KD: Do you like sketching or do you prefer creating digital artwork?
LW: Nothing quite matches the versatility and freedom that using a drawing program provides when designing but sometimes you just need to hold a sketch book in your hand and go to town.
KD: What is your favorite Nintendo game/series and why?
LW: My favorite series would have to be Zelda. I remember playing the Legend of Zelda on the NES when I was a little kid and it was one of the first video games I ever played. That series holds a special place in my heart. I just wish it were easier to come up with new Zelda ideas when designing shirts.
KD: How did you get involved with websites like Shirtpunch.com and theyetee.com and where can our readers purchase some of the clothing designs you’ve created?
LW: I first started submitting random designs to other shirt companies and then I discovered the daily sites. I then started submitting designs and gradually learned the proper way to design shirts. I have several shops online where my designs can purchased including some that were not released on daily sites:

KD: I’m a big fan of a lot of your video game inspired t-shirt designs! What’s it like seeing people wearing your personal artwork? Do you have a favorite design out of the bunch?
LW: Thanks. Those are my favoirte to design. It really feels great knowing that people out there enjoyed my design enough to spend money on it. It is a very gratifying feeling. I can’t say I have a favorite design. I usually get pretty excited over every new shirt.
KD: Thank you for the interview Louis, your artwork is awesome! Are there any upcoming designs or artwork you’d like to tell us about, where can our readers see more of your art or contact you if they have questions?
LW: Thank you for interviewing me! This has been a really great experience. I do have a few designs coming including a couple of Pokemon designs. If you wish to contact me or get updates on upcoming designs, the best way to reach me is through Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/KindaCreative
