According to IGN (via The Wall Street Journal), over 21 million amiibo figurines have been shipped throughout the world.
Recently hitting 14 million in June, the number of shipped amiibo continues to increase worldwide, thanks to the demand of collectors and those nostalgic for Nintendo properties. IGN continues to report (via The WSJ) that 66% of amiibo sales were dealt in North America, whereas Europe holds 20%, and Japan possesses only 11%.
Earlier this month, Nintendo announced that Mega Yarn Yoshi, an amiibo figurine that’s likely to be 3-4 times bigger than traditional amiibo, will be sold exclusively through Toys R Us retailers for $39.99.

I love amiibo I wish I could collect them but I can’t afford to right now. I only have the fire mario one from SSB, but I plan on at least getting the Shulk one alongside Xenoblade Chronicles 3D, that’s for sure. also Shovel Knight! and I might get some others when I can.
I’m really happy they’re selling well, they sure are nice to have and the game functionality is a nice bonus.

Blue Yarn Yoshi was amiibo #29 for me, so yes, I am hooked. As figures/toys they are very high quality and look great on a shelf or desk, I am still hoping for some compelling game compatibility. I’d like for functionality to be their primary function and aesthetics second.
