Capcom has not had much to  announce lately for the Wii U.  There was the recently announced Resident Evil: Revelations and then there is Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate which is due out very soon.  When a Capcom Unity Forums user asked the company whether games like Resident Evil 6 would be coming to the Wii U as well, Capcom revealed that the are not very interested in porting old games over to Nintendo’s new hardware.

“With regard to Wii U, in general we’re looking forward, not back so late ports are generally not on the table.”, says Christian Svensson, Capcom Senior Vice-President

In a separate posting on the Capcom Unity forums another user asked why Resident Evil 6 did not get a Wii U version of the game and again Mr. Svensson responded.

“It started long before we were even informed of Wii U’s existence. Development started on this project in early 2008, right after RE5 was finished.”

This is great news for Wii U owners in the sense that Capcom wants to bring new experiences to Nintendo fans instead of rehashes of old games.  This also mean that Nintendo fans have to wait and see what Capcom has planned for those of us with a Wii U.  Capcom announced last year that they are working on more Wii U games but they could not release any more details at that time.  How much longer we will have to wait is the question!
