Castlevania: Lords of Shadow — Mirror of Fate is Konami’s next installment of its famous and influential franchise.  The game will be available for the 3DS in stores and on the eShop tomorrow, March 5.
I’ve run through the demo a couple times, and here is my collection of thoughts:

Overview:
The demo lets you experience some of the classic Castlevania sidescrolling gameplay, navigate a creepy cathedral, and fight a couple minibosses of sorts.  It’s not incredibly long, but it’s just enough to give you a taste and hopefully whet your appetite.  It did mine.

Gameplay:
Castlevania is just a fun, monster-killing romp.  The combat is fun and simple, and the sidescrolling keeps the great feel that makes the franchise what it is.  Basically, I had a blast playing it.  I ran through the cathedral, vaulted up walls, fought giant skeleton monsters, and murdered gargoyles with boomerangs.  The gameplay seems fairly simple at first, but you can unlock attack combos as you progress and gain experience.

The demo was pretty quick, but I’m gearing up for quite a ride.  I’m excited to battle undead hordes in the full game.
