Friction between Scottish, British and Irish soldiers? That can't be right.

Broken Lines—a tactical combat RPG from developer PortaPlay—will be released for Nintendo Switch in February of 2020. To make sure we’re ready to handle the mission, a new, narrative-focused gameplay trailer has just been released.

The video showcases how character interactions affect both the game world and the squad of British soldiers who have crash-landed behind enemy lines in an alternate-history WWII.

You need to make the hard choices for these brave souls, as they battle both the enemies in front of them and the enemies within themselves. Whether they are battle-hardened veterans or green recruits, each soldier brings their own attitudes, beliefs, and personal baggage to the battlefield. You must deal with these, and make the most of their combat skills, as you fight to bring them home.

In addition to the heavy focus on character and story, Broken Lines promises an innovative and approach to tactical combat unit control. You’ll need it to manage a squad of soldiers fighting through Eastern European battlefields as they desperately try to get back home. The soldiers’ experiences will “shape their personalities and their relationships, building a narrative that reveals the true impact of the horrors of war — and perhaps something more.”

More details on the game—including gameplay features and squad member bios—can be found at brokenlinesgame.com. I gotta say that Elliot Wood looks like a fun chap.
