Thank you for the support

I know Justin has already gone around and done some of his thanks for this past weekend. I wanted to take some time to get my few things in as well. This last weekend we held a 48-hour marathon, not just for some random charity, but also in honor and support of a close high-school friend. It meant a lot to us for all the support we received from the donation, viewers, players and the gaming world as a whole. Some of the outside world may see gamers as selfish, and possibly violent group of people. What little do they know that we are a community that supports each other. Yes we are difference between Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft fan boys, but when it is all said and done, we are all still gamers. On that note I have to say that Nintendo fans have the best community and support.

I would like to send out a special thanks to everyone who donated and played against us. If it wasn’t for all of you who participated, the marathon would not have been a success. Second I would like to thank all the sites that supported and helped get the word out there; Macdaddynews,3dsbuzzMyvideogamenews and all the sites that posted up our press release. Thank you all for the support. It is sites like yours that makes us all feel like we are part of a community.

Now all the things I am thankful for during the event.

-My roommates putting up with our 48-hour marathon.

– Coffee: Oh how you made our lives easier.

-Teddy Grahams: The unofficial sponsor of our gaming events.

– Girlfriends and wives for putting up and supporting our adventures. Also a big thanks to Katie Sharp for her support with keeping us going and playing games so we could take a break.

– Best Buy Chattanooga

– Nintendo for creating a lot of fun games to play.

– Live Stream: We had a few problems but it never seems to let us down.

– Macbooks for helping us run the event through them.

Once again thank you to everyone from the bottom of my heart. You are all the best. The donation plug-in will still be live until September 1st. If you like you could still donate there.

– James Higginbotham Head Editor/PR

Update on Daniel: On August 9 at 11pm, Daniel passed away with his family at his side after a long, hard struggle with brain cancer. Please keep his wife and family in your thoughts and prayers. We’ll still be doing our 48-hour video game marathon to benefit Daniel’s wife Logan and to honor his memory. Daniel was one of my best friends ever since 7th grade. We went to the same high school for all 4 years and then roomed together for the first 2 years of college. He’s been one of the greatest friends I’ve ever had and I miss him very much.

Cancer is a very real tragedy that strikes millions of families every year. Pure Nintendo has decided to hold a 48-hour game Marathon to help raise money for a local brain cancer victim, Daniel Harper.

The marathon will be live streamed, on purenintendo.com, starting 7 pm on August 20th and go through the 22nd.

Check out the official press release HERE.

A little about Daniel

Soon after overcoming a terminal brain tumor in 2008, Daniel married his high-school sweet heart Logan  and finished up his degree in business. After getting married,  Daniel’s job in marketing and sales took the Harpers to Las Vegas NV, Park City Utah, Lahaina Maui, and Branson MO.

After being tumor/cancer free for 2.5 years, Daniel was struck down by a seizure, which was an early sign of tumor growth.  After a few weeks of false test, doctors finally realized that the tumor had grown to the original size of the original tumor. Daniel went through many different procedures and surgeries over the next couple of months. Unable to work the Harpers’ found themselves moving back to Georgia living with Daniel’s family.

You can check out Daniel’s full story HERE.
