The Doctor will start seeing patients on July 10th.

Nintendo’s rather impressive line of mobile games will grow this summer when Dr. Mario World is released for iOS and Android devices on July 10th. Pre-registration is now open, but all it gets you is notification of the game’s release.

Dr. Mario World is the latest version of the popular Dr. Mario falling-block puzzle game originally released for the NES and GameBoy back in 1990. You’re not just matching colors to make rows of blocks disappear, however, you’re trying to eradicate viruses. In this new mobile version…

… meddlesome viruses have the world in a panic, and Dr. Mario and friends are tasked with eliminating them by matching capsules with viruses of the same color. Players should keep calm, take their time and plan their approach carefully, as each puzzling combination of viruses in each stage must be cleared using a limited number of capsules.

Luckily, Dr. Mario isn’t the only one on call: A full office of doctors, including Dr. Peach, Dr. Bowser, Dr. Toad and many others, will be available to help players overcome the pesky viruses through various virus-busting skills.

Dr. Mario World will launch with over 200 stages, and new doctors, stages, and worlds will be added on a regular basis.

This mobile version can be played with friends and family members around the world, as players will be able to share stamina-giving hearts for use in Stage Mode. Players can also challenge others to a real-time, one-on-one showdown in Versus Mode.

Dr. Mario World will be “free-to-start” when it’s released, so expect the option/need for microtransactions. For more information, visit drmario-world.com.
