Nintendo has announced a release date for upcoming 3DS title, Dragon Quest VII.

The classic game, which has been completely rebuilt for the 3DS, was released in Japan earlier this year, and will now head to the West on September 16.

In Dragon Quest VII, you’ll be travelling to the past in order to save the present, as you restore forgotten lands and battle an unknown evil (surely the worst type of evil). You can customize your party from more than 30 job classes, and level up characters in turn-based combat to learn new spells and abilities.

Features of Dragon Quest VII include:

  • a fresh way to experience this classic game with rebuilt visuals and a complete retelling of the story
  • a beautifully designed world that you shape as you travel back and forth in time
  • an iconic cast of classic characters and monsters designed by critically acclaimed manga and game artist Akira Toriyama
  • customizable party with over 30 vocations
  • the ability to expand and share your adventure even more with StreetPass by sending and receiving traveler’s tablets to explore new dungeons that contain rare monsters and unique equipment.

To coincide with this news comes a brand new trailer, which you can check out below.
