KEMCO—the prolific publisher of retro RPGs for mobile devices and, more lately, gaming consoles—has released Alvastia Chronicles for Nintendo Switch. And if you’ve ever thought JRPGs are too-often limited to four to eight adventurers, keep reading; Alvastia Chronicles offers more than 100.

But first, the story:

After encountering the man who killed their parents ten years prior, Elmia, a priestess; and Alan, her brother and protector, set out to avenge their deaths as they fight to stem the tide of monsters flooding into the upper world, and restore peace to Alvastia.

However, in their quest to amass an army of diverse companions with the same goal, will they really be able to gain the strength necessary to bring their parents’ killer to justice, and save the world…?

Having 100 fighters at your disposal is one thing, but Alvastia Chronicles takes the festival atmosphere even deeper by allowing you to engage in battles with up to 13 party members. Gameplay strategy, therefore, is very much centered around creating elite teams to lead in combat.

You’ll need to recruit your companions and create bonds between them to utilize enhanced effects such as ATK up, EXP up, and more. Properly used teams can use burst strikes to “level foes to the dust.”

Of course, no RPG would complete without weapon upgrades, a battle arena, and quests, but Alvastia Chronicles promises much more.

The game is available now for $12.99 in the Nintendo eShop with purchasable DLC options to increase your damage, encounter, and experience rates.
