Rising Star Games has announced that the latest title from Game Freak’s “Gear Project,” Giga Wrecker Alt., will be available digitally for Nintendo Switch on May 2nd as part of its rollout to consoles.

In Giga Wrecker Alt., players take control of Reika, a state-of-the-art cyborg, to guide her through destructible environments in an attempt to unearth the mysteries behind the sudden invasion that has left the world in ruins. It’s not all platforming, however, as Reika will navigate increasingly challenging physics-based puzzles throughout.

Giga Wrecker combines frantic platforming, intense combat and physics-based puzzle challenges into one exciting adventure. By destroying robotic enemies and the world around her, Reika can form the resulting debris into all manner of weapons and tools. Use these to overcome obstacles and solve puzzles, navigate through platform-laden levels, then take the fight to the robot invaders and save mankind from extinction before it’s too late!

In Giga Wrecker Alt., players will:

  • Smash enemies and destroy scenery, then manipulate the debris to create all kinds of weapons and tools that can help you.
  • Solve physics-based puzzles, overcome fiendish traps and face off against powerful bosses hell-bent on your destruction.
  • Gather experience and blueprints to expand your skills and abilities, then take the fight to the evil Ajeet and save humanity!

Having been released for Steam in early 2017, the “Alt.” version for consoles offers exclusive content that includes 20 additional puzzle stages and a new Hard Mode to ramp up the challenge and prolong gameplay. If you’d prefer things actually get easier, a new companion character is also now available to help guide you through the more difficult puzzles.

Finally, localization has been overhauled to enhance the original’s charm. The game can now be played in Japanese, English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Brazilian Portuguese, Russian, Korean, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese.

Giga Wrecker Alt. will be available in the eShop on May 2nd for $24.99. It’s also available as a limited run physical release for $39.99 from Limited Run Games.
