Nintendo will be ensuring a high profile for its highly-anticipated Wii U exclusive Mario Kart 8, through a marketing campaign to run until the end of the year. The social media component has already begun to get gamers nostalgic about classic Mario Kart moments.

The game launches on May 30th, and the launch campaign will include online and TV activity that will run right up until the end of the year.

Nintendo UK’s Mario brand manager Roger Langford spoke about the campaign:

To herald the launch of the most hotly anticipated Wii U title to date we will have marketing activity pre-launch as well as post-launch moving through the summer and into peak season.

For the first time in HD, Mario Kart 8 introduces original course designs that highlight the game’s new anti-gravity feature, which allows players to race upside down or up vertical surfaces. This adds a whole new dimension to the racing.

There’s a lot riding on the success of this game, so perhaps it’s no surprise Nintendo are kicking their marketing campaign into high gear.
