Gamers at the London MCM Expo have smashed the Guinness World Record for the Largest Handheld Game Console Party, show organisers are delighted to announce.

More than 580 people gathered at Excel on Saturday 29 May with their Nintendo DS handheld consoles to break the previous record of 381 people, held by Australia.

Damian Field, Guinness World Records’ Official Adjudicator, commented: “It is a tremendous achievement for the MCM Expo to reach a number of 586 smashing the existing world record of 381. It’s rare for a UK mass participation to reach over 500.”

The London MCM Expo is now the proud holder of two world records, having previously clinched the title of The Largest Gathering of People in Costumes From a Video Game.

Europe’s answer to the San Diego Comic Con, the London MCM Expo gives fans of all ages the chance to come face-to-face with their favourite film stars and TV personalities; get hands-on with the hottest new games; check out Britain’s biggest anime and manga distributors; watch previews of upcoming movies; catch up with the brightest comic book talent and strut their stuff at our famous cosplay masquerade.
