Beta testing has started for highly-anticipated game, Mighty No. 9, and beta-level backers should be receiving a download code starting tomorrow.

Keiji Inafune, the game’s creator, announced the beta release at the PAX 2014 panel. The beta build includes the fifth level of the game, although the development team will be adding more content for a total of three levels.

This news kicks off the start of September’s Mighty Month. In addition to beta testing, all Mighty No. 9 backers will also be receiving a free download copy of Mighty Gunvolt within the next few days.

Mighty No. 9 is only possible thanks to the overwhelming success of the Kickstarter campaign, which stormed past the initial $900,000 goal to reach $3.8 million. The side-scrolling action game is being worked on by Inafune with a team of designers at his Comcept studio.
