If you’re an amiibo fan – and who amongst us isn’t – you’ll be pleased to know that Nintendo has lined up a few models for release in the new year. It all starts very soon, too, with both Tekken’s Kazuya and Final Fantasy’s Sephiroth hitting shelves in January.

The news came just last week via Nintendo. In case you missed it, here’s what’s we can expect.

These latest amiibo belong to the Super Smash Bros. series of toys-to-life models, bringing two DLC fighters – namely Kazuya and Sephiroth – to the fold. Tekken fans will immediately recognize Kazuya Mishima from Bandai Namco’s famed fighting series. He made his way to the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate roster in 2021 via the Fighter’s Pass Vol. 2 DLC.

Meanwhile, the dark Sephiroth hails from Final Fantasy VII. He debuted in the RPG series in 1997 as the antagonistic opposite to hero Cloud. He was the third character from the Fighter’s Pass Vol. 2 to come to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, joining the team in 2020.

You can pre-order Kazuya and Sephiroth now ahead of the January 13 release date.

But wait, there’s more! In case that’s not enough amiibo for you, the good news is that a further two have also been announced, with Xenoblade’s Pyra and Mythra set to join the long list of characters sometime in 2023. While no release date has been officially announced just yet, it certainly gives us something to look forward to.
