Update: From IGN
Japanese newspaper Nikkei reports new details about the 3DS. While still unconfirmed by Nintendo, the system will apparently use a “3-D joystick” and will feature a “force feedback mechanism that will let players feel the collisions of a game character.” An accelerometer to allow tilt functionality is also still under consideration.
The paper also says the 3DS will have “significant improvements in wireless communications speed and battery life,” and notes the dual screens will not be larger than 4 inches each.

I’m no expert, and I”m sure I”m missing a huge point somewhere. But 3D effects without glasses. Doesn’t that equal projections?

this better not be another Virtual Boy. that thing was only fun for about 5 minutes.

It definitely won’t be the same type of 3D that the Virtual Boy used. I bet it will be some sort of 3D effect that is generated off the cameras like that one DSiWare game in Japan.

Here’s a link to the video of that DSiWare game with the 3D effect:

I’m sure whatever technology they’re using will be more advanced than what’s in that video, but this might give people an idea of what to expect–Although Nintendo usually goes above and beyond most expectations.
