‘Twas the night before Christmas, and all through the house, not a creature was stirring – except in Europe, when they remembered it was Thursday and that the latest goodies for the Nintendo eShop were available!

This week’s releases are timed very nicely, coming in on Christmas Eve and consisting of discounts aplenty, some great Mario VC titles and some other interesting releases in the mix.

  • Kung Fu FIGHT! (Nostatic Games, €1.99 / £1.49) – with a similar visual style to The Quiet Collection, this is a twitch-reaction runner with multiple difficulty modes available.

Wii U Virtual Console

  • Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars (Nintendo, €7.99 / £5.49) – the original 1996 SNES game never made its way to Europe or Australia, although it was released in 2008 on the Wii VC. This Squaresoft-developed title was the beginning of the Mario RPG series, which has morphed into the Paper Mario and Mario & Luigi series. This charming game is where the concept started and provides a joyful and memorable experience.
  • Super Mario 64 DS (Nintendo, €9.99 / £8.99) – Super Mario 64 was originally released on the N64 in 1996 (1997 in Europe) as a launch title, with this version launching with the DS in 2004 (2005 in Europe). The original was heralded as a ground-breaking game that established a new archetype for the 3D genre, and the DS version introduced new content and playable characters – Luigi, Yoshi and Wario.
