A new week has dawned and with it has emerged this week’s offerings from Nintendo’s European eShop. A little less activity this week but still some interesting additions and, as always, a couple of nice discounts.

Wii U eShop

  • Guacamelee! Super Turbo Championship Edition (Drinkbox Studios, €13.99 / £11.99) – a colorful action-platformer set in a world full of vibrant Mexican culture and folklore. Originally released on other platforms last April, this enhanced edition features new costumes, levels and tunes as you play as luchadors Juan and Tostada, punching skeletons melee-style to save El Presidente’s Daughter from Carlos Calaca.   • Armillo (Fuzzy Wuzzy Games, €6.00 / £5.50 – Special introductory price: €4.50 / £4.00 until 24/07/14) – a rolling platforming game with a sci-fi parallel universe theme. Here you roll around in spherical 3D worlds where lots of unexpected deadly twists, and surprises await! This looks like a promising game and was in development for ages: check out our hands on preview.
  • Flowerworks HD: Follie’s Adventure (NOCTURNAL, €5.00 / £4.00 – Special introductory price: €2.50 / £2.00 until 31/07/14) – A puzzle/adventure game with 20 hours of content with 5 difficulty settings. Here you help heroine Follie find seeds to transform her surroundings.

Wii U Virtual Console

  • Adventure Island (NES) (KONAMI, €4.99 / £3.49) – A veritable classic released in Japan in 1986 and the US in 1988 – and not in Europe until 1992 – this side-scrolling platformer sees you venturing through eight perilous areas filled with enemies determined to stop you. As if that wasn’t tough enough, Master Higgins loses vitality over time; so he must grab fruit, milk and other goodies as he races towards his goal. Smash eggs to find useful items like the axe and skateboard to help you progress. Good times!

3DS eShop

  • Chibi-Robo! Let’s Go, Photo! (Nintendo, €12.99 / £11.69) – it’s your job as Chibi-Robo to help The Curator fill his exhibition rooms with displays of real-world objects, using your photographs. Snap pictures using your Nintendo 3DS or 2DS camera to create so-called ‘NostalJunk’ displays. You’ll explore the human world as the helpful robot hero to meet colorful and hilarious characters, solve their problems and clean the world to earn Happy points. The more happiness you spread, the faster you can help with The Curator’s dream of having as many NostalJunk aficionados admire his exhibits as possible.
  • Quell Reflect (CIRCLE Ent., €3.99 / £3.49) – an enchanting game of logic that has taken the puzzle world by storm. A charming puzzle game to put your brain to the test with over 100 levels of addictive, lateral thinking, complete with beautiful soundtrack. This puzzler is deceptively simple, but will test your brain in new ways.
  • Squids Odyssey (The Game Bakers, €12.99 / £9.99) – a unique mix of action strategy and RPG. Here you lead your team of Squid heroes through turn-based battles against corrupted crabs and other sealife to save the world from an infectious black ooze. As an added bonus, If you download Squids Odyssey on Nintendo 3DS, you can download Squids Odyssey from Nintendo eShop on Wii U for free! Consoles must both use the same NNID. We enjoyed the Wii U version and have high hopes for the 3DS version.

3DS Retail Download

  • Pokémon Art Academy (Nintendo, €34.99/ £29.99) – this Pokémon-themed iteration of the Art Academy series offers budding illustrators and Pokémon fans 40 lessons to learn how to paint, sketch and draw their favorite Pokémon characters.
