Welcome to another week of potential as we outline the latest releases for the European eShop. This week we have a nice mix, from new Kirby for the Wii U to a puzzle game combo featuring Mario. There’s a great new Virtual Console offering, plus plenty of hefty discounts to tempt us.

Check out the full list below and let us know which games will be on your eShopping list this week.

Wii U Virtual Console

  • Yoshi’s Island DS (Nintendo, €9.99) – this Virtual Console entry was originally released on the DS in 2006 as a direct sequel to the SNES classic, Yoshi’s Island. This colorful platformer introduces new babies, including Baby Wario and Baby Donkey Kong, each providing unique powers to the Yoshis who carry them.

Wii U Retail Download

  • Kirby and the Rainbow Paintbrush (Nintendo, €35.99 if you own another Kirby download on the same NNID, otherwise €39.99) – also known as Kirby an the Rainbow Curse in the US, this somewhat short but artfully crafted adventure continues with a similar idea to 2005’s Canvas Curse for the DS. This time you’ll use your GamePad screen in a charming adventure, featuring co-op support and gorgeous visuals. Despite the short story and recycled bosses, we were fans of the music, visuals and fun gameplay in our Kirby and the Rainbow Paintbrush review. Available from 8th May.

Both versions blend match-three combos, with strong RPG elements and some adventure gaming thrown in, as you battle through stages or quests to save the world (or Princess Peach). Basically, it’s two games for the price of one – we’ll have a review for you soon.
