As always, Monday brings with it the delightful news of which games we can expect to be playing later in the week. This week in Europe sees several exciting releases, including the latest Lego Batman, some highly-anticipated Mario Kart 8 DLC, and some great Virtual Console titles to remind us of the good old days.

Wii U eShop

  • Tengami (Nyamyam, €7.99 / £6.99) – a puzzle-adventure title that we’ve been patiently waiting for, this pop-up book game uses ancient Japanese stories and art to craft a beautiful world that can be manipulated via the GamePad. You’ll fold, flip and pull pages to guide your lone samurai on his quest.
  • Paper Monsters Recut (Mobot Studios, €6.49 / £5.49) – another crafty game, watch a living world made out of paper, cardboard, and even a few cotton balls unfold your eyes in this 2D platformer.
  • Meine Ersten Mitsing-Lieder (Ringzero Games, €9.99) – a karaoke title (Germany only).

Wii U Virtual Console

  • Castlevania: Dracula X (Konami, €7.99 / £5.49) – originally released on the SNES in 1995, this was called Castlevania: Vampire’s Kiss in Europe. This time you play Simon Belmont’s direct descendant, Richter Belmont, in the continued struggle between Dracula and the Belmont family of vampire hunters. Richter must rescue his beloved Annette, who has been kidnapped by Dracula’s servant, Shaft.
  • Golden Sun: The Lost Age (Nintendo, €6.99 / £6.29) – part two of the Golden Sun series, this classic RPG was originally released on the Game Boy Advance in 2003. Hero Felix and his allies must restore the power of alchemy to the world of Weyard, using psynergy against enemies and discovering locations, helping locals, and finding elemental djinn.

  • LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham (WB Games, €49.99 / £44.99) – the latest in the popular Lego franchise sees Batman and other DC superheroes heading onto outer space to defeat Brainiac, who is using the Lantern Rings to shrink planets for this collection. With over 150 characters to unlock, you can play as various heroes and villains in locations like the Hall of Justice, the Batcave, the Justice League Watchtower, Lantern Planets, and even the moon.

Wii U DLC

  • Mario Kart 8 DLC Pack 1 (Nintendo, £7.00 / €7.99 or £11.00 / €11.99 for the DLC bundle) – the long-awaited DLC for Mario Kart arrives this week, bringing with it new characters and tracks. Plus you’ll be able to play as Link for the first time ever, with a Hyrule themed vehicle and course to test out.

Wii U Demo

  • Flowerworks HD: Follie’s Adventure (Nocturnal, free) – this is a high-def remake of the well-received 2009 WiiWare title. Hailing from Australian studio Nocturnal, this action puzzler has a plot reminiscent of Pikmin – you play as a pint-sized explorer, who has crash-landed on an alien planet, where flowers are your greatest ally.

  • Picross e5 (Jupiter, €5.00 / £4.50) – more puzzles of the Picross variety, this fifth installment includes over 150 new puzzles to solve, in three modes – Micross, Mega Picross, and 20×15 Picross.
